Accommodations
We highly recommend booking your accommodations early to ensure availability. We recommend you stay in the nearby town of Sesimbra (about 15 minutes from our venue). There are a few Air Bnb's in the area, but we would recommend you rent a car if you choose this option. Be aware that if you choose to stay in Lisbon, it will be about a 30-45 minutes drive away from the venue and it may be difficult to find an uber back. We plan to have more information regarding transport to and from the venue, on the wedding day, once we have a better idea on where guests are staying!

Travel
We highly recommend booking your travel early to ensure availability
Flying to Lisbon (LIS)
We recommend flying into Lisbon's airport, Humberto Delgado Airport.
The following local airports have frequent, direct flights:
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD)
If you need any assistance please let us know or email us at grant@grantandemily.com.
Getting Around
Sesimbra is about a 45-minute drive south of Lisbon.
We recommend staying in this area for the wedding.
Please see the accommodations tab for recommendations on where to stay.
Information for transport on the day of the wedding is coming soon!
From Lisbon to Sesimbra: we recommend either renting a car or using Uber/Bolt. Keep in mind, if you choose to rent a car that automatic cars are limited and a premium. Book early!
Although a car rental allows flexibility if you decide to travel around Portugal before or after the wedding, it is not necessary, as public transport is affordable and efficient. We would recommend avoiding driving a car in areas such as downtown Lisbon or Sintra. It can be tricky with crowded, narrow, and windy streets. Parking is also limited. Apps such as Uber and Bolt are both affordable and easy to use. You will have no trouble finding rides at any time of day or night around Lisbon.
Car Rental
There are many car rental agencies near Lisbon Airport. We have enjoyed using
CAEL Rent A Car
on previous trips. They will meet you at the airport and provide shuttles to and from the airport to their rental agency.
Uber
Ubers are extremely affordable in Portugal. It should cost ~10-15€ from the airport to downtown Lisbon and ~30€ from the airport to Sesimbra.
Bolt
Similar to Uber, should be easy to schedule and affordable!

Q & A
What is the Dress Code?
Formal
For women: We recommend long dresses. We would love to see pastel and bright colors or fun patterns!
For men: Any suit would be great.
Keep in mind, the majority of the events will take place outdoors. Ladies may want to bring a sweater/shawl for the evening as temperatures may drop into the high 50s-low 60s.

Recommendations for Travel around Portugal
Lisbon
Explore Portugal's beautiful capital city, approximately 30-40 minutes drive north of our venue! We recommend staying in the area near Chaido or Barrio Alto. The historic neighborhood of Alfalma is lovely area to explore. Time out Market is their famous food hall with options for everyone! Popular day trips include Belem, Sintra, or Cascais. Be sure to try the popular pastel de nata, visit a Fado show, and enjoy all of the miradouros!
Sesimbra/Azetiao
Visit the nearby fishing town 10-15 minutes drive from our venue! Although in May, it may be a bit too cold to swim, Sesimbra has a long stretch of beach with a range of restaurants, shops, cafes, and hotels.
Nearby are the beaches of Praias da Figuierinha, Portinho and Galapinhos. Meco is known for big waves and surfing.
The Azetiao region also has a long history of producing wine. The most famous being the Moscatel, de Setubal. The winery of Catralvos is very close by to our venue with several others only a short drive away!
The Rota de Vinhos, the local wine route, has several self drive tours available.

Porto
About 3 hours north of Lisbon is the second largest city in Portugal, Porto. It is best known for production of port wine production. Make sure to spend a day on a Douro River tour where you can visit a variety of local wineries! We booked a similar excursion through air bnb. We recommend travel via train or bus system! Both are about the same time.
Lagos and the Algarve
About 3 hours south of Lisbon is the Algarve region. It is well known for its stunning beaches and cliffs. We visited Lagos, one of the coastal towns in the Algarve region, on our first trip together in Portugal. Make sure to see the Praia do Camilo and the cliffs of Ponta de Piedade! There is no direct train to Lagos, but there is a train to the town of Faro. You could stay in Faro or take a bus to another coastal town. There are direct busses from Lisbon to Algarve, taking about 3 hours.
